A male patient was operated on today who came from Gwalior and who was suffering from left side jaw cancer for 4-5 months, with pus discharge from cheek, foul smell, and big nodes in the neck. As his condition worsened he was asked to go for symptomatic treatment.
Then he contacted me after getting a reference from one of my old patients from his native place only. In Spite of the COVID situation, after he came to me, we investigated him thoroughly and decided to go ahead with his surgery. And after a meticulous marathon surgical procedure, we could save his life, and now he is doing well. At the same sitting plastic reconstruction surgery was also done for him.
Lots of people in our country die because they don’t get proper treatment for head and neck cancer on time. At Advanced head and neck cancer centre we try our best to make people aware of head and neck cancer. Our centre is one of the few centres in India to provide world-class head and neck oncology, in the leadership of Dr.NitinTomar.
After performing the successful meticulous surgery Dr.Nitin Tomar said.
“Oral cancer is particularly dangerous as in its early stages it is difficult to be noticed by the patients, as it can grow stealthily without exhibiting any pain or symptom related to the disease or they might recognize. And also it has a high risk of producing primary as well as secondary tumors. This means that if a person had survived the first encounter with the disease may have 20% higher risk of developing the second stage cancer. The heightened risk factor may last up to 5 to 10 years after the first encounter. There are many types of oral cancer but around 90% of them are squamous cell carcinomas”.
